Observance therefore is not an option but a requirement of all who desire to follow our Mashiach (Messiah), who having fulfilled the Torah for us, paid the price (the Asham sacrifice) of our failures, thus destroying in His body the consequences of our disobedience (sin and death). We strive to walk in His ways because we love Him. We believe that Torah and grace coexist today, G-ds Law requires us to perform, Gods Grace forgives us when weve tried and failed. Being a Torah observant congregation means that we teach and encourage members and adherents to practice Torah in their homes and as a general everyday lifestyle. It also means the celebrating of all biblical moedim (feasts) on their prescribed day and in their prescribed manner. Being Torah observant means we honour the Shabbat by ceasing from all forms of labour including buying and selling, from sundown Friday night until sundown Saturday night. Our Torah observancy also extends to our format and order of service. Although we are charismatic (believe in the gifts and the workings of the Ruach HaKodesh [Holy Spirit]), we favour a more traditional service format. Shabbat begins with our Erev Shabbat "Kabalah Shabbat" (welcoming Shabbat), service, which includes liturgy, praise and worship and an interactive Torah study. Shabbat services begin at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning, with a one and a half hour Torah study on the weekly parasha (weekly Torah readings). Regular services begin at 11:00 a.m. and take approximately three hours. This service begins with liturgy and continues with prayer, Messianic praise and worship (which includes Davidic dance), an elaborated traditional Torah service, a Dvar Torah (devotional on the weekly reading), and concludes with the Rabbis sermon.Although this is a typical service, it is by no means strictly adhered to. Liberty is given to the leadership to alter the service and its components, as they are lead by the Ruach HaKodesh. We at Melech Yisrael consider ourselves more then just a congregation; we are a living, vibrant community of Messianic believers, with many services and activities taking place throughout the week. Our uniqueness is that we are both Jew and non-Jew who are bound together in the worship of our Mashiach in the customs and traditions of Torah, while maintaining the power and liberty of the Ruach HaKodesh. |
