In fact that's one of the reasons most of the Hebrew liturgical prayers are chanted instead of read, they're easier to remember that way. Perhaps you're not aware of it, although you should be. Satan was the angel of music in heaven! Yechezekiel / Ezek 28:13: "Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created." (KJV). Timbrels are a percussion instrument and pipes are a wind instrument, Satan has them both as standard equipment! He was the anointed cherub that covers, meaning he protected the throne of G-d and undoubtedly played music for the L-rd. Is it any wonder now that he has lost his position in heaven, that he would use his talents to corrupt man kind. God knows that music has a great influence on us. I believe that is why He had Moshe write down this song. Through the singing of this song, the past present and future of Israel would be indelibly inscribed on the minds of those who learned it, sang it and listened to it. Satan is a counterfeiter. Everything that G-d uses for good he copies and uses it for evil. Every song we hear has some type of message attached to it. Songs of the world have worldly messages, while songs of G-d have godly messages. Which do you want to influence your life? Which do you want to influence your child's life? Think about it the next time you tune in to a secular radio station or buy a CD at the music store. One last point I'd like to make concering this parasha. The final verse of parasha Haazinu reads as follows: 52 - "For thou shalt see the land afar off; but thou shalt not go thither into the land which I gave the children of Israel." (The Soncino Chumash). Moshe, the very representative of Torah was not allowed to enter into the Promise Land. Not because he didn't obey Torah, he wrote it, but because he didn't listen to the L-rd. The following of Torah couldn't bring Moshe into the Promise Land. Neither can it bring us into a place of blessing, if we do not listen to G-d.Bereshit / Gen 26:4-5; "And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; 5-Because that Abraham obeyed my voice (b'Koli), and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my Torah."
