My husband is the Rabbi at
Congregation Melech Yisrael but you already know that. His last editorial in our monthly
newsletter was titled "Complacency". This sin has always been on our hearts as
believers. We have met so many "believing" people that say that being
compassionate is being silent. Silence will get you and I nowhere when it is concerning
the person you are witnessing to silently, it will only get them to hell.
Oh, does that bother you when I say it will get
them to hell? Hell is real, as real as heaven and it's the place unsaved people go after
they die. Is this a surprise to you? Well, I'm sorry if you didn't know this but now you
do. Do I sound angry, cynical, disgusted, fed up...
Chanukah is about shinning your light, the light of
Messiah Yeshua. It says in the Word not to hide your light under a bushel, so don't!
Get out there and tell those who you say you love
about JEEEESUS! No, I am not the best or most fervent witness and I have missed
opportunities that I know for sure were from the L-rd, so I can tell you - don't be
silent.
There are some conditions
though. If you are proclaiming from the heart and the spirit - go for it. If you are full
of knowledge but no understanding of who G-d is - forget it! We need to be worshipping in
spirit and truth. As Messianic believers they go hand n' hand. One without the other is
lacking. I know that we're just the messengers and the L-rd will bring to pass what He has
already ordained concerning the salvation of His people but stop the lip service already
and get right with G-D!
Chanukah is
about light. Not the sci-fi light you hear about on X-Files, "Don't walk into the
light!" No I mean the light of Yeshua burning brightly within. Did you ever look
into the eyes of someone and truly see their soul? Look into the eyes of the person that
usually sits by you in shul and hopefully you will see that true light. Not the light of
self, not the light of facts and of works but the light of the love of Yeshua HaMashiach.
As believers we sometimes think that we need to see this smiling face and pursed lips with
the words "G-d loves you" on them
. If its
not from the heart it doesn't matter what the words are or how wide the smile. Here's a
good way to find out if someone is for real, let a child approach them. I've seen this so
many times when a child is approached by an adult and they aren't for real the child runs
away screaming.
