In fact with respect to the P'rushim (Pharisees) Yeshua said: Mattityahu {23.2} "The Torah teachers and the P'rushim," He said, "sit in the seat of Moshe (Moses). {23.3} So whatever they tell you take care to do it. But don't do what they do, because they talk but don't act. (CJB version). Sure Yeshua chastised the Pharisees, but not for what they taught, He chastised them for what they did, because they did not practice what they preached. They preached Moshe and Torah but they practiced a system of man made works (the Oral Law); they were hypocrites and He had no problem in telling them so. Do you recall the following Scripture where Yeshua says?: Yochanan (John) {8.46} Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? Yeshua was able to ask this question of the crowd because they could never convict Him of sin. He never violated Torah and whenever the Oral Law contradicted Torah he immediately referred His accusers back to HaShem's Word. They were never able to substantiate any of their accusations. In fact when Yeshua stood before the Sanhedrin, as they were seeking an excuse to have Him put to death, no one was able to find any violation of Torah to accuse Him of. The situation was so pathetic, and knowing He was called for such a time as this, Yeshua had to, sort of speak, incriminate Himself in the eyes of His accusers so that they would have reason to have Him crucified. Mordechai (Mark) {14.55} The head Cohanim (Priests) and the whole Sanhedrin tried to find evidence against Yeshua, so that they might have Him put to death, but they couldn't find any. (CJB version). As Yeshua did, so did the apostles. Nowhere in Scripture does it indicate that any of Yeshua's disciples violated the Torah. Shaul (Paul) had the greatest respect for Torah. He never declared himself liberated from Torah in fact in Acts 16.19-23 he confirmed His commitment to biblical Judaism. While visiting Philippi Shaul was arrested, dragged to the magistrate and accused of being a Jew and stirring up trouble. For this crime he was flogged, severely beaten and thrown into prison. Shaul could have very easily declared himself to be a Christian and no longer Jewish, thus securing himself release from custody and saving himself from being flogged and beaten, but he did not. He stood fast to His beliefs and adherence to Torah as a biblical Jew. Yes, Congregation Melech Yisrael will continue to be faithful to the Great Commission and we will do it by following the example set for us by Yeshua and the apostles. We are committed to make disciples of the nations by teaching them that once saved, G-d has given us a code to live by, His Torah. Yeshua did not come to destroy the Torah He came to help us fulfill it. This is the Great Commission Yeshua left us with and this is what we at Congregation Melech Yisrael will be doing until Mashiach returns. L'Shanah Tovah
