He also, I believe, saw what will yet occur among the Jewish people in the future. All this was shown to him thousands of years ago, as he explains in the following passage: Devarim (Deuteronomy) {11:13} And it shall come to pass, if you shall listen diligently unto My mitzvoth (commandments) which I command you this day, to love HaShem your G-d, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul, {11:14} That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the former rain and the latter rain, that thou may gather in your grain, and your new wine, and your oil. There are two rainy seasons in Israel one begins around Succoth (Tabernacles), the former rain, and ends just before the planting season; the other begins after Pesach (Passover), the latter rain, and ends just prior to the spring harvest. The first rain moistens and softens the soil preparing it to receive the seeds, and the second rain waters the crops in preparation for the ripening of the harvest. Without one rain you could not have the other, therefore both rains are associated with the harvest. What is true for physical crops is also true for spiritual crops. The rain is the out-pouring of the Ruach HaKodesh and the harvest are the souls of man. When HaShem chose Avraham (Abraham) to be the father of His very special and separate nation, Avraham had no righteousness of his own to merit HaShem choosing him, he was chosen by grace. However, with the choosing of Avraham, HaShem also rained down on him the Ruach (Spirit) of G-d enabling him to simply trust and believe G-d by faith. This was a tremendous and perhaps the first such out-pouring of the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) recorded in Scripture. Avraham was not only the father of the nation of Yisrael, he is also the father of every believer in Yeshua who was chosen by grace and given the power to believe by faith. Galitim (Galatians) {3:7} Know therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Avraham. You do not have to be born Jewish in order to be a child of Avraham; you simply have to be reborn by the Ruach HaKodesh through faith. Therefore there is no need for any formal conversion. Near five thousand years of sowing and reaping has taken place. HaShem has been pouring down His latter rain from above watering the souls of man for what has been the early harvest, but there is also the former rain, which will yet bring the fall harvest. This I believe is the harvest Zecharya was talking about in his prophecy. Centuries ago, HaShem sovereignly placed a veil over the eyes of the Jewish people, resulting in the majority of our people not being able to receive Yeshua by faith. HaShem has withheld His rain from them. Zecharya is telling us that a time is coming when HaShem will send an out-pouring of His Ruach HaKodesh upon the house of David and upon Yerushalyim, a Ruach of grace, meaning that He will finally give them the ability to see and receive by faith, and a Ruach of supplication, meaning that they will ask for forgiveness for all the thousands of years of rejection of their Mashiach. What a revival that will be! Ya’acov (James) {5:7} Be patient therefore, mishpacha (family), unto the coming of the Mashiach Adoneinu. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, having patience, until he receives the former and latter rain.
